After ASG ended, all of us departed in great style, dressed in black, with 3 cars and lots of instruments. One contingent went back to school to drop instruments and change, while the other went straight for dinner and KBox!

Crazy photos courtesy of Eveline. Unfortunately, none of her! Anybody willing to contribute?

Ah, brotherly love. We know you love each other, but stop ganging up on us!

Marianna and I falling asleep after a long and hard day. HAHA yeah right.

kboxtrio.jpgIn Eveline's words, "Xiang Wen trying to turn off Kevin and Jing Feng's singing using the remote control". HAHA!

kboxsj.jpgOnce again in Eveline's words, "Seaw Jia can't stand the sound of her own singing."

We finally left Kbox past midnight. And guess what...some of us were awake next morning at 6am. Why???

 tcctomato.jpg

Because of big, juicy, explosive TCC tomatoes that go splatissimo!

Okay, it was to send off our dear Vice-Chairperson and ASG2008 IC Kian Hong, who's going to Mexico for summer studies. More exciting than eating tomatoes! Thanks Kian Hong for all your hard work and your tomato treat! (and thanks Daniel for driving us all to the airport early in the morning)

Enough of my lame jokes...end of entry!

ASG 2008!
Written by Peh Xiang Hong
Sunday, 20 July 2008
A String Gaderian 2008 was held on 28th June 2008, 3pm, at the Young Musicians' Society. It involved the NTUSO beginners and the Training Orchestra, as well as Mrs Connie Soon's young students, and was hosted by (unofficial) club emcees Eileen and Eveline, the 2 triple Es.

The auditorium was a flurry of activity before the start of the recital as Jessie, our violin instructor coordinated rehearsals, the performers readied themselves, and our welfare officer handed out donuts to happy people. Finally, we were ready to begin!

Items performed by our members included:

"The Highland Dancers" and "At the Fair" by our beginners,
"Edelweiss" by beginners Marianna Yeo and Ng Xiang Wen,
"Jasmine" by beginners Chen Qin and Chen Jin Miao,
"Moon Represents my Heart" by beginners Chew Shu Wen and Chew Jing Wen,
"Traumerei" by beginners Amy Wong, Ni Wei, Ho Pooi Leng, and Phua Xi Kun,
"Song from a Secret Garden" by Goh Kian Hong (accompanied by Peh Xiang Hong)
"Air on G" by TO quartet (Sun Jing Feng, Liew Seaw Jia, Eunice Chew, and Peh Xiang Hong)
"Double Concerto for Two Violins" by Deng Xiao Yun and Liew Seaw Jia

Congratulations to all players! Especially the beginners, who have showcased their newly-acquired skills after less than 1 year of lessons.

After the intermission, the Training Orchestra stepped up to perform, led by conductor Dr Yeo, performing "The Barber of Seville", "Intermezzo from Rusticana Cavalleria", "On the Beautiful Blue Danube", and finally "The Phantom of the Opera". The recording is up in the forum for all those who want to hear it...you have to register first though!

The TO has improved by leaps and bounds since their last performance during the lunchtime concert in March. Congratulations to all!

Finally, the last item in the concert was the "Dance of Yao", played by all violinists. It was an energetic, powerful conclusion to the concert.

(Our players are the ones dressed in full black!)

And that concluded ASG 2008... a final thank you and congratulations to all those involved with its organising, especially Kian Hong, the overall-in-charge!

(By the way, photos of individuals performing will be updated in this entry when I get photos! Gosh...I really need my own camera...and someone to teach me how to take proper photos!)

Hey people, I'm going overseas tonight! So sorry that I haven't yet updated about ASG, have been waiting for photos, etc, and spending my LIFE cutting up full scores for the main orchestra so that we have something to practise while waiting for our scores to come. Haven't even planned what I wanna do while on holiday cos I have no time!!:(
So I'm gonna leave you with this video of one of our pieces for Journey '08. It's the Andante (2nd movement) from Sinfonia Concertante for Solo Violin and Viola by Mozart, and the solo part will be played by Gerard and Dr Yeo. Super nice! We were all like wooooah just playing the first few notes during practice yesterday. TO and beginners, check it out too!

(in case you're wondering, yes, we're playing all 3 movements.)

A String Gaderian 2008
Written by Marianna Yeo
Monday, 30 June 2008

As all of you would have known (because of the earlier announcement from Kevin), A String Gaderian 2008 was held on the 28th of June, Saturday at YMS, Waterloo Street.

The beautiful sign that announces our concert outside the doors of YMS. Erm.. I just noticed something, they misspelt our concert name!! Maybe it's not that nice afterall.

I uploaded a video that my sister took of half the Dance of Yao onto youtube. Why half? Because my memory card ran out of space (too clogged up with the videos i took at angela's singapore concert.) Anyway, it looks super good. For the full song, please contact Xianghong for the audio recording.

That's all that I'm contributing. For a more complete photographic walkthrough of the event, please wait for Xianghong's post. (because the rest of my photos are concentrating on me. *faints*) And of course, another thing worth looking forward to is Xianghong's post on our post concert celebration at Kbox. (:
